Episode 101: Mifune: The Last Samurai

This documentary examines the life and career of Toshirô Mifune, the Japanese star of many Akira Kurosawa films who changed the face of world cinema.
Just like Tom Cruise, this Last Samurai changed the face of Hollywood forever through non-stop action movies. Mifune cranked out hits that were responsible for making the Western genre so popular in America as well as Han Solo... Maybe. Keanu Reeves narrates and the doc interviews everyone who was ever close enough to smell Mifune's farts. You would expect with that kind of coverage, Gordon and Geoff are now Mifune experts but unfortunately all we got was a basic Wikipedia education of Mifune. It's not about the man at all and instead is a in-depth look at his resume. After the news, we're rambling about. Next week, we're watching Force Majeure.
